Hurricane Irene

We've batten down the hatches, brought in all possible missiles disguised as flower pots, lawn ornaments, and chairs.

The rain is just starting.  Here's a picture of the calm before the storm.  Will update as the storm progresses.

For those who have attended my crop on Cape Cod will recognize this building.

And those who know my husband will know what he was doing in this picture. lol  Even on vacation, he hunts for wood!

We've been spared the eye of the hurricane and the rain, however the wind is coming in strong.  My mother and I went down to the beach but couldn't open the van door.  You could hear the sand blasting the car.

Here are pictures of Craigville Beach on Nantucket Sound. The water surge has gone over the beach but not into the parking lot yet.  The town has blocked off all beach parking lots.

'
I am going to try to put attach a video of footage I taped on the top of the bluff in Craigville.  Look at that, it worked.  This is Lisa, reporting to you live from Craigville Beach.

And here is a picture from up on the bluff looking down on the beach where the water surge went over the beach, the parking lot and Craigville Beach Road.

Here is the parking lot at the beach after the water receded.

And here is a picture of the same beach area as the first picture I posted yesterday.  In the first picture you can see the rock jetty, however in this picture it is covered by the water surge.

Decorative box with chocolate

My brother, sister-in-law, and niece played host to the nicest girl from France the past three weeks.  Tomorrow she is going back home so I wanted to give her a little box of chocolate goodies for the long flight home.  I cut two pieces of heavy cardstock paper to 8" x 8".   One piece of paper is scored at 2" and 6" for the bottom and the other at 2 and 6 1/8" for the top.  The finished box is 4" x 4" x 2".  I filled it with Hershey Kisses.

Get Well

I had an opportunity to hide myself away in my girl cave this morning and came up with this Get Well card.  I have been trying to make a card with each Cricut Cartridge I have.    The base of this was from Wild Card.

Grandparents Day

Grandparents Day usually catches me by surprise, however this year I planned ahead.  The card came out cute however I don't think it photographed that well.  I used stickles (Diamond and blue) all over and dyed beads one of my Peeps made for me for the end of the antenna's

My Mom's Birthday

My Mom's birthday was this weekend.  We opted to get her a Kindle to bring on her upcoming cruise and I also made the following two layouts.  She has a memory album devoted just to the 4th of July so I know she will use this.  I used the Stand and Salute Cricut cartridge and my Gypsy to weld liberty and freedom to a 12" rectangle.  Paper is cardstock from Creative Memories.  Simple layout but I think it turned out nice.

Room with a View

This is the view from my hotel room this morning.  I am told the beach isn't far away but I haven't seen it.

Truck Binder

I recently worked with several colleagues from different states on a policy and procedure manual for our position.  One of the ladies is now retiring so we thought we'd give her a pretty version of the manual.  Being in the transportation industry, it was a given that the binder be made in the shape of a truck!  I used the truck from the Paper Dolls Everyday Cricut cartridge (Thank you to my Peep for the use of that cartridge)  I inked around the edges for a little contrast.  On the inside of the book, we can all sign our wishes to our friend in her retirement.

Cards sent out this week

This week I've sent out four cards; two unfortunately were sympathy cards, one was a baby card, and the other was to a dear woman I used to work with.  I like to send her a card each month just to let her know I still am thinking fondly of her.

The first card is great to use up odd and ends of leftover paper.  I cut the squares at 1 3/4".  I did ink up the sides of the card after I took the picture.

The sympathy card was designed on my Gypsy and cut on a Cricut Expression.

The baby boy card was cut from the Cricut Graphically Speaking Cartridge on a baby bug.

Jumping into the Blog World

My peeps are very creative and post their creations on their blogs.  Once in awhile I make a layout, card, or crafty project and tell them about it.  They usually say, sounds nice but we want to see.  They must of grown tired of this because one created a blog for me.  Guess I have to jump in and try it out.

Give me a little time to post pictures of what I am working on this week.
